This handsome fella is Buster! Buster presented to the AMCS emergency department after his owners noticed he was non-weight bearing on his back right leg, which started the previous night. Buster was painful and needed to be sedated in order to provide him with an examination to see what was wrong. A draining tract with purulent material was present between the 4th and 5th digit and when the wound was clipped and cleaned a small piece of wood was discovered.

The foreign object was removed and the area was cleaned by flushing the wound with dilute chlorhexidine solution. Buster was prescribed pain medications and antibiotics and sent home with his family to recover. The staff here at the Animal Medical Center of Seattle was so glad to have relieved poor Buster’s pain and get him back to his normal self!
