The world lost a beautiful soul early this December when Augusto left this world to cross the rainbow bridge. Chris and Chani had lived with many animals in their lifetimes, but had never experienced the amount of adoration and affection that Augusto had given them. Augusto was smart, gentle, kind and he simply overflowed with his love for them. From day one in their lives to his final moments, he did everything he could to show them how much he wanted to be with them. And they felt the same way.
Augusto spent three days in Animal Medical Center of Seattle’s emergency department for renal failure. His condition declined fast before Chris and Chani had to make one of the most difficult decisions of their lives.
The six years they had together were hard, and Augusto helped Chris and Chani through them with his unconditional cheer. He expected little in return; mostly, he just wanted belly rubs. But on the day of his death, his family wanted to give him more. So Chris unpacked his art supplies and drew for him.
Augusto’s final days and moments were spent with his loving family and the AMCS staff who deeply cared for him. We are all saddened by the loss of Augusto, but know that his time here was full of love and happiness.
