The Animal Medical Center of Seattle and Boehringer Ingelheim are excited to be hosting a virtual webinar on Tuesday, November 30th from 6:30 – 7:30 pm with Dr. Carrie Jurney on CPR for the Veterinary Soul. Dr. Jurney is the president of Not One More Vet, the largest wellness-focused charity for veterinarians in the world! Dr. Jurney is also a board-certified neurologist for Jurney Veterinary Neurology in San Mateo, CA.

About the Webinar:

It’s hard to go anywhere in veterinary medicine these days without hearing about problems relating to wellness, mental health, and even suicide, but what is really happening?
This lecture looks at both veterinary personality types and tendencies as individuals, as well as workplace stressors common in veterinary medicine. For each topic, we will explore the literature surrounding mental wellness and veterinary stressors, with an eye to finding real-world solutions to these problems.

This virtual webinar is worth 1 hour RACE approved non-medical CE credit and, thanks to Boehringer-Ingelheim, is completely free to veterinary professionals!

2021 Fur Wheel Drive and Furry 5k

It’s time again for the Animal Medical Center of Seattle’s annual Fur Wheel Drive, where we fill our car with donations to benefit the Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation’s Furry 5k event. Once again, this year’s Furry 5k will be going virtual, which means you can join the 5k wherever you feel safe!

Donations for the Fur Wheel Drive can be dropped off until Saturday, June 12th at Crown Hill Pet Supply – 9053 Holman Rd NW, Seattle, WA 98117 and Pet Adventure – 22803 44th Ave W, Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043

Exercise Your Heart for Animals
May 23rd to June 12th, 2021

The Animal Medical Center of Seattle is proud to be a sponsor for the 2021 PAWSWalk Exercise Your Hear for Animals! This is a 21-day wellness challenge from May 23rd to June 12th that you complete from the safety and comfort of home. Participants will have a weekly wellness challenges to accomplish alongside their beloved furry companions. In this lecture, Dr. Carle will be discussing dental radiography for veterinary professionals. This talk is targeted to veterinarians and veterinary technicians just starting with dental radiography who want to increase their proficiency in taking dental radiographs in dogs and cats. We will also look at some common radiographic findings and discuss their clinical significance.

Soft Tissue Closure and Ligation in Common Abdominal Procedures

Abdominal procedures are the most common type of surgery performed in small animal practice. There are constant changes in the types of materials available for closure and ligation, from suture to staplers and even the newer vessel-sealing devices such as the LigaSure. We will discuss the various options and recommendations for the most common abdominal procedures to help guide intraoperative and inventory choices. We will also review the use of a LigaSure for OVH and splenectomy, as well as give a step-by-step outline for rapid intestinal resection and anastomosis using a GIA stapling device.

Managing the Allergic Patient – WSVMA Webinar

In this lecture we will look at how to accurately diagnose and treat cat and dog allergies. We will go over the differences in treatment options between the two species and also examine what can be done in extreme cases of allergies that are not responding to common treatment modalities. Also, we will discuss common and uncommon ways allergies can manifest.

WSVMA members are free, and it’s $15 for non-members.

Santa PAWS Photo Contest

The three categories are Overall Best Dog Photo, Overall Best Cat Photo and Dog and Cat BFFs Photo.

Animal Medical Center will announce the winners and share a Facebook Album of all the festive photos submitted on January 8, 2021.
